Writing Training Module
Agenda & Activities - Wrap-up, Day 1
Session
II-1-A: Introduction/Warm-up (30 minutes)
Objectives
- Review of major points from the first workshop
Activity
- Participants briefly share reflections.
- Depending on the characteristics of your group, an option is to
start the session with a group activity with a lot of movement and
interaction.
- Or, you might ask people to post what they found most surprising/difficult/unusual
about their investigations and discuss?
Facilitator’s Comments: If your group is small
(less than 7), space the presentations so that everyone has
a chance to respond
to each one.
Session
II-1-B: Investigative Practice Presentations (Two 2-hour sessions)
Objectives
- Provide a safe environment for each participant to share and discuss
classroom investigation.
- Give and receive positive feedback.
- Help participants plan next steps in their investigation. Where could
they go from here?
Activity
- Spend some time reviewing the reporting and feedback process. Make
sure to stress that the feedback is for the individual conducting
the presentation, should be content related, and may include suggestions
for further inquiry or practice.
- See sample feedback form.
- During this part of the session, the facilitator(s) will collect
feedback forms after each presenter and place the forms
in an envelope. They could have handed out the forms immediately, or
saved them for the
end of
the day.
Facilitator’s Comments: Allow for at least five
minutes for the group to complete the feedback form.
Session: II-1-C: Reflection (30 minutes)
- Ask participants to identify an issue,
practice, or idea that piqued their interest. Inform the participants
about what they will
be discussing the following day.
