3. Using TV411 to Deepen Students' Understanding of How They Learn

Learning Styles

Introduce the Content:
Brainstorm around the topic of learning styles:
Possible Prompts:

  • What are the different learning styles? (Auditory, visual, kinesthetic)
  • How do you address the different learning styles in your classroom?
  • Do you know your own learning style?
  • Do you think it would benefit your students if they were aware of different learning styles and their own personal learning style?

Teacher Talk:
Identifying our learning styles can help us find the tools we need to master skills and retain content. This TV411 segment introduces the students to different learning styles and they take a quiz to determine their own learning style.

Model the Strategy:
Model of lesson from the Teacher’s Guide, pages 88-93.

OPTION: Introduce www.tv411.org
If you have the facilities, you can go onto the TV411 web site and take the computerized quiz on learning styles. This would be a good time to let the participants explore the web site.
