ESL/CivicsLink Training Module

Goals of Training

The purpose of this ESL/CivicsLink training module is to:

  • ask participants to reflect on others' and their own instructional practice
  • consider how ESLCivicsLink might help them in their classroom practice
  • consider: "Why ESL/CivicsLink?"- provide teachers with background information - rationale, theoretical background, general principles of development, this includes (a) needs anaysis, (b) benefits of online professional development, and (c) concepts of project-based learning
  • go through the ESL/CivicsLink Tour to familiarize participants with the ESL/CivicsLink structure and layout
  • walk participants through the Orientation Unit (free trial registration required) to familiarize them with how to work through a unit.
  • discuss and prepare participants to negotiate implementation roadblocks
  • examine the three different study models for using ESL/CivicsLink
  • give teachers model of goals assessment
