Guiding Principles of Training

Use the following principles to guide your English For All training:

  • Through your own delivery of the training module, model the teaching techniques featured throughout the training session.
  • Introduce and explain the day's activities so participants know what to expect.
  • Offer an in-depth orientation to English For All so that participants have a solid foundation for their own investigations.
  • Give participants a chance to directly engage with and explore English For All.
  • Present "guiding questions" throughout the day to help participants focus on key tasks/issues and identify their own incentives for use.
  • Include small group work in the training so individuals have the opportunity to bond and collaborate with peers.
  • Help participants decide for themselves how these products support their learners' needs.
  • Encourage participants to identify likely roadblocks to implementation (particular to their programs) and brainstorm possible solutions in these contexts.
  • Help participants think practically about developing lesson plans.
  • Offer an informal forum for communication beyond the in-person training.
