Waterbury Adult Education: Resource Review: GED Interactive*
Teachers:
Jim Monroe, GED
Type of Resource:
Software
Description:
GED Interactive covers the five subject areas
which make up the national GED tests including the following:
Language Arts, Writing; Social Studies; Science; Language Arts,
Reading; and Math.
How the resource was used in class:
Language Arts, Writing lessons are used to reinforce
grammar usage and mechanics, sentence structure, verb tenses,
and for writing essays required on the actual GED test. Social
Studies lessons reinforce understanding, analyzing, evaluating,
and applying information and ideas to social study areas.
The things I like most about the resource
are as follows:
Students are able to work individually, at
their own pace, to enhance their English and Social Studies skills
needed to pass the GED tests. Most students respond favorably
and look forward to working alone, at their own pace.
Limitations and suggestions to overcome
shortcomings:
The only limitation for this particular software
is that it should be accomplished with some instructor input,
or guidance, for support, such as Power Point.
