Meriden Public Schools Adult and Continuing Education: Resource Review: Graphic Design Tools*

Teacher: Mark Lorenze, Another School Program

Type of Resource: Adobe Photoshop, Digital Cameras, Computers, Printers, Digital Duplicator

Description:

Adobe Photoshop is a powerful, award winning digital imaging manipulation program used by professional graphic designers throughout the world. It is used to prepare images for web and print applications.

How the resource was used in class:

In our class, Photoshop is used to create, enhance, collage, repair, restore, and retouch images that are used in a variety of mediums including the internet, and print applications. Items produced include websites, letterheads, brochures, programs, mouse pads, and mugs.

The things I like most about the resource are as follows:

The power of the capability of the program and it’s ability to create original works of art as well as it’s ability to enhance existing images is unsurpassed in the field of graphic design.

The student’s energy when they see the potential of this program is exciting to observe. They are extremely enthusiastic about learning the capability of digital manipulation .

Limitations and suggestions to overcome shortcomings:

The program is rather complex and has a rather steep learning curve.

My approach is to bring the students along slowly allowing time with practice for the capabilities to be learned.
