Most of the statistics collected in the International Literacy Explorer statistics database come from UNESCO's World Education Report 1998 (http://www.education.unesco.org/educprog/wer/wer.html).
Statistics in the following indicators were found in the World Bank's World Development Indicators (http://www.worldbank.org/html/extpb/wdi98.htm): Total Land Area, Under-5 Mortality, Personal Computers, Maternal Mortality Ratio, GDP, and Average Annual Population Growth. Language information was found at the 1997 World Factbook Online (http://www.odic.gov/cia/publications/factbook/index.html). |
