Women and Nonformal Education
Minority Women's Literacy and Basic Skills Project, Laos

Narrator: Thirty kilometers away from Louangphrabang, in one of the three community learning centers of this province, Miss Kunmane is teaching literacy to 41 women of three different minorities. As she learned in her training sessions, she stirs up her class by using the project's motivation song on the benefits of nonformal education. According to their educational level, the students from seven different villages are divided into groups: those with no literacy skills, semi-literates, and advanced.
