Second Language Literacy
Haitian Multi Service Center, Boston, USA

Narrator: The Haitian Center has no schedule for when learners should move from Kreyol class to ESL class.

Haitian student: You speak about what you think about... what you think about your kids. But you never... you never says what your kids think about you.

Instructor: That's a very nice point!

Narrator: Although teachers encourage the move when they see students gain literacy skills, how long [students] stay in Kreyol class depends on their reasons for learning Kreyol, their age, their experience with English outside of class, and their self-confidence.
