Workplace Essential Skills Training Module

Lesson Outline

This outline is a basic guideline - it is, by no means, the only way to structure a Workplace Essential Skills lesson.

Lesson Title - Give your lesson a name.

Level/Learner Group - Describe your intended audience.

Subject(s) - List the subject areas the lesson will cover.

Duration/Materials - How long will the lesson last? What materials will you need for this lesson (video clips, print resources, website, etc.)?

Goals - List the lesson goals. You might try: "Participants will learn how to: 1, 2, 3, etc."

Procedure - List specific steps/activities in this lesson. You might want to divide your procedure into the following categories.

"Before" Activities

  • How will you introduce the lesson and the video clip?
  • What activities will you ask learners to complete before watching the clip?

"During" Activities

  • What kinds of things will students do or consider while watching the clip? Will you ask them to take notes, ponder specific questions, look for issues or themes, or consider different characters' perspectives?

"After" Activities

  • What questions will you pose after the video clip?
  • What activities will you introduce to reinforce and extend the information in the clip?

Products & Assessment - What products will participants create in this lesson? How will you/your participants evaluate the outcomes of the lesson?

Possible Roadblocks/Solutions - What roadblocks, if any, do you expect to encounter in implementation and how might you manage them?
