GED Connection Training Module

Guiding Principles for Training

  1. Introduce and explain the day's activities so participants know what to expect.
  2. Offer an in-depth orientation to the products so participants have a solid foundation for their own investigations.
  3. Give participants a chance to directly engage and explore the products - either on their own or in small groups.
  4. Present "guiding questions" throughout the day to help participants focus on key tasks/issues and identify their own incentives for use.
  5. Include small group work in the training so individuals have the opportunity to bond and collaborate with peers.
  6. Help participants decide for themselves how these products support their learners' needs.
  7. Encourage participants to identify likely roadblocks to implementation (particular to their programs) and brainstorm possible solutions in these contexts.
  8. Help participants think practically about developing lesson plans.
  9. Offer an informal forum for communication beyond the in-person training.
